How long do I have to wait?

Our February batch is now open. Purchase before the 14th of March to ensure your spot in the batch.

This batch will be hand-made and shipped by the end of April, 2017.

Why can't I choose my size when adding a product to my cart?

When you purchase a pair of Charlie Butlers we don’t just give you a sizing chart and ask you to choose a size. We take your foot measurements. We then use your measurements to choose the size that will fit you best - we craft the perfect size shoes specifically for your feet.

We will also ask for your normal sizing to cross-check.

See our size guide for more information.

How does custom sizing work?

After you purchase, we will contact you to ensure you get perfect fitting shoes. See our size guide for more information on how to take your measurements

What if my shoes don't fit?

We offer free exchanges and returns up to 30 days after delivery. For more information, visit the shipping and returns page.

What are the working conditions of the people that make Charlie Butlers?

Charlie Butlers are made in Indonesia with good working conditions. We work with trusted suppliers who are fair and just, and look after their staff.

The craftsmen that create our shoes are regular people - they ride to work with scooters, work the hours they want, and take breaks when they want. They are usually older men with families.

The factories we work with are usually small - with 10-20 staff working at any one time. The atmosphere is light and happy.

Charlie Butler does not employ the craftsmen directly, so we don't know exactly what they are paid. We are told that the craftsmen are well paid.

What we do know is that we pay a handsome fee for our shoes to be made by these great craftsmen, and that the craftsmen get a portion of each shoes that they create.

If you need any more information, please let us know.

What are your shoes made from?

We are committed to never using leather in any of our products. We designed and developed our own synthethic material over a period of seven months.

Various vegan leather materials are used in our production. The scientific term for the materials are PU (polyurethane) and PVC (polyvinylchloride).

Our materials are breathable and phthalate (plasticizer) free - even the PVC.

Here are some of the features of our materials:

  • They are soft, flexible and comfortable
  • They expand to mould around your feet, just like leather, This allows for a unique and personal fit.
  • Just like denim, our materials age beautifully with each wear.
  • They are waterproof.
  • They are dirt and stain resistant.
  • They are bacteria and fungus resistant. As a result, Charlie Butlers don't get smelly.
  • Our materials are breathable, so they stay cool, comfortable and dry. Just like leather.
  • They are waterproof - the materials do not get wet.

How do I protect or polish my shoes?

To polish it, a (wet) micro-fiber cloth works well. As for protection, the faux leather we use is low maintenance. And because it's synthetic and water resistant, it doesn't need any water protection spray like leather does.
